Desde que la era Eternal Sunshine comenzó, the boy is mine de Ariana Grandeha sido de las canciones más comentadas porque se rumora que habla sobre su polémica relación con el actor y cantante estadounidense, Ethan Slater. Breve resumen del caso: ellos se conocieron en el rodaje de Wicked y empezaron a salir al poco tiempo, tan solo unos meses después que Grande se separara de Dalton Gomez, lo cual supuestamente causó del divorcio entre Slater y su esposa de años con quien tiene un hijo.
Pues bien, Ariana ha sido duramente criticada y llamada “rompehogares” por su decisión de andar con Ethan cuando él ya tenía un familia, mientras que el actor no ha enfrentado tantos cuestionamientos, pese a que su exesposa ha declarado que nunca vio venir su engaño. Sin embargo, ambos se han mantenido unidos e incluso la cantante ha compuesto varias canciones que parecen ser una respuesta indirecta a todos los comentarios en Internet.
